To Whom It May Concern:

The history of south Mississippi is the story of our work in the maritime industries. The contributions of generations of Mississippians to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard is unrivaled through our military shipbuilding companies. From Commercial fishing to shipbuilding, our live and livelihoods are tied to the bayous, rivers and the Gulf of Mexico.

Celebrating that rich heritage and preserving it for future generations is the task that the members of the board of directors of the Mississippi Maritime Museum continue to champion. This museum will be an archive of the 300 years of maritime history and artifacts. It will serve as an archive where students and other visitors can come to research and appreciate Mississippi’s extensive maritime history.

It is important to take pride in the influence that Mississippi has had on the maritime industry and the economy of the state. Creation of the museum will enable our community and visitors to our area to better understand the critical role Mississippi has had in advancing the maritime industry.

The construction of the museum will create jobs, and it will add a new tourist attraction to the area. For all of these reasons, I am proud to endorse the Mississippi Maritime Museum.
